View / Status Bar

This option is in the View main menu.  It controls whether the status bar is visible, which will appear at the very bottom of the main window.  The status bar simply shows short help-hints for menu items (whatever the mouse cursor is hovering over), some progress messages (for instance, "saving database"), and the state of keys like Caps Lock and Num Lock.  Its functionality is minimal, so most users prefer to leave it turned off in order to gain an extra line on the tab views.  Manager access is required to change this setting.
