Campground Master Usage in Other Businesses
Campground Master's flexibility allows you to customize it to your needs and use it for any
kind of reservations -- motel rooms, boat slips, cabins, flea market booths, or whatever you have to rent.
As time permits, we plan to create specific versions for each of these types of businesses, but you don't have to wait.
With the flexibility built in to the program, and particularly with the "Advanced Customization" features to
customize the whole operation and look of the program, it can handle just about any special need.
Here are some examples of how it has been used successfully in other businesses:
Mobile Home Parks
Mobile home lots or permanent residences are often part of an RV park, and Campground Master can be used to track those also.
These are basically just an occupied space with monthly charges, the same as a long-term RV stay. Some of the specific
differences are easily handled by the program, and in some cases special functionality has already been added:
- Monthly Rentals -- The program already handles monthly or annual rentals for sites, so the same applies to mobile home lots.
- Metered Electricity usage -- Full support is included for tracking meter readings and automatically billing tenants for electric,
water, and gas meters.
- Overdue reports -- There is a Payments Due report that can show who is coming due, making it easy to send bills or notices
based on how late they are with payments.
- Statements, Contracts, Delinquent Notices, etc. -- Regular billing statements are already included for the monthly rent, etc.
If you need special forms for contracts or other notices, you can customize your own forms for these kinds of uses.
While this is a more advanced
feature that computer novices might have trouble with, we can do this for you at a nominal extra fee if needed.
Hotels, Motels, Inns, Cabins, and B&B's
Many of our customers have a combination of RV/camping spaces and motel rooms, which the program accommodates easily.
There's really very little difference in how a motel rents its rooms vs. an RV park. Some of the specific
differences are easily handled by the program, and in some cases special functionality has already been added:
- Housekeeping -- There is a Housekeeping Report to show which rooms have someone leaving, arriving, and back-to-back
departure/arrivals.
- Payment at Check-Out -- While most RV parks put in charges and take payment up front, there's also an option to
add the charges upon check-out. It will also prompt for payment upon check-out whenever a balance is due.
- Types of Rooms and attributes -- The "site type" lists are completely configurable, so you can define your own types such as
Double/Queen/King bed, Suite, etc. You can rename attributes like "Sewer hookup" to be "Smoking" or "Non-smoking", etc.
Hostels & Boarding Houses
These are similar to hotels and motels, but often with the added dimension of needing to book each bed or bunk separately.
This can be done by using a separate "Site" for each bed, which can be linked together in the reservations when needed for family units
(the same as Group reservations are done in campsites).
You can also see an example of this in the map samples we have from our customers
(see the map for "Base Camp Park City").
As mentioned above for hotels, the "site type" lists are completely configurable so you can define your own types such as
Twin/Double bed, Male/Female, etc. You can also rename attributes like "Sewer hookup" to be "Smoking" or "Non-smoking", etc.,
to fit any special needs you have.
Marinas
Many marinas also have RV or camping spaces, so we do have a lot of customers using the program for Marinas as well. You'll see a couple
examples of this in the map samples we have from our customers.
Some specific marina issues are noted below:
- Boat sizes -- There is a "Rig size" field for RV's, which can be renamed and used for "Boat size". You can define your
rates to be based on this size, and also specify maximum length restrictions on your slips so it keeps you from booking too large of a boat.
- Types of slips and moorings -- The "site type" lists are completely configurable, so you can define your own types such as
Dock, Buoy, Oversize, etc. You can rename attributes like "Sewer hookup" to be "Dockside fueling", etc.
- Monthly Rentals -- The program already handles monthly or annual rentals for sites, so the same applies to slips.
Flea Markets
Several flea markets have been using Campground Master in their business to track the rental of booths, and of course
it will handle the rent charges, payments, reporting, receipts, and other typical rental functions.
Campground Master
will do pretty much everything that the hugely more expensive Booth Tracker software will do, and is much easier to use,
so it's a very cost-effective alternative. You can implement a map of your facility for handy reference, too.
Some specific flea market issues are noted below:
- Booth types -- The "site type" lists are completely configurable, so you can define your own types such as
Outdoor, Indoor, Corner, etc. You can rename attributes like "Sewer hookup" to be "Electric outlet", for instance.
- Space sizes -- The sites have length and width fields for entering the size of each space, and these can be used
for looking up a space with a minimum size.
- Weekend-only rentals -- The program allows you to specify which days of the week each site is available. Thus you could
have some available all week, some Fri-Sun only, and some Sat/Sun only -- however you need it. Further, you can select which
days of the week they want to reserve if for. If someone rents a space for 6 months but only on Sundays,
you just enter the start and end dates and check the box for Sunday, and it will handle the rest.
Storage Space Rental
Storage facility rental is typically a much "simpler" operation, since there are few if any options on spaces to worry about,
and you don't need to get customer information like vehicle tags, number of adults, children, pets, etc. Many RV parks
also have storage facilities for RV's during off-season, so we have experience dealing with those.
Some specific storage business issues are noted below:
- Site types -- The "site type" lists are completely configurable, so you can define your own types such as
Outdoor, Indoor 10x20, Climate controlled, etc. You can rename attributes like "Sewer hookup" to be "Electric outlet", for instance.
- Space sizes -- The database has length and width fields for entering the size of each space, and these can be used
for looking up a space with a minimum size.
- Monthly Rentals -- The program already handles monthly or annual rentals for sites, so the same applies to storage spaces.
- Overdue reports -- There is a Payments Due report that can show who is coming due, making it easy to send bills or notices
based on how late they are with payments.
- Contracts, Delinquent Notices, etc. -- You can customize your own forms for these kinds of uses. While this is a more advanced
feature that computer novices might have trouble with, we can do this for you at a nominal extra fee if needed.
Kennels
While this is a new area for us, we don't see any reason that Campground Master wouldn't work well for kennels.
- Types of units -- The "site type" lists are completely configurable, so you can define your own types such as
Cat, Dog, Large Dog, etc. You can rename attributes like "Sewer hookup" to be "Carpet floor", etc.
- Unit sizes -- The database has length and width fields for entering the size of each unit, and these can be used
for looking up a unit with a minimum size.
- Service options -- There are many "preference" fields that can be used and renamed as needed, for adding optional
services like grooming, special meals, daily walking, etc.
